Estancia Cortaderas is a uniquely positioned lodge that offers 5 Star accommodations and service, combined with amazing shooting and fishing. Sitting high above the Parana River it offers commanding views of the river and surrounding countryside.
Estancia Cortaderas is best known for superb mixed bag shooting from May through August. The mixed bag shoots allow all shooters to shoot ducks, perdiz, pigeons and doves on a single trip, no changing lodges or moving around. You can also fish for Golden Dorado when the weather is nice.
There are many varieties of ducks with the most populous being Rosy-bill Pochard and multiple varieties of Teal – especially the beautiful Brazilian Teal. The duck shoots take place in marshy areas around the lodge as well as smaller ponds and sloughs throughout the local area. All of the different venues offer exciting shooting.
Perdiz over dogs are great fun and you can spend an entire morning walking the endless fields near the lodge. The dog work and handlers are great and offer something that not every other lodge in the area has. The perdiz are challenging to shoot and live in pairs.
Pigeons are the most under rated game bird in Argentina. They decoy like ducks in grain fields, but are extremely challenging to shoot as they enter the decoys. A day of every trip is spent shooting pigeons with an asado in the field which makes it even more fun. While everybody is shooting in the morning, they are building the entire asado from scratch.
Doves round out the mixed bag shooting experience. You will shoot doves every evening on the days you shoot ducks and perdiz in the morning. There are plenty of doves and you will get a lot of shooting.
High Volume doves and some pigeons are available to shoot from September through mid-April. The doves are amazing during this time frame and Spring (September – November is the perfect time to shoot them. Winter wheat is planted in June or July and is harvested in October – November depending on the year. The doves target the wheat and go absolutely crazy. By November, it can get pretty warm, but it makes for a great Winter escape from November – March, with Summer temperatures and lots of sunshine. You shoot early in the morning until it gets hot, then take a break in the pool, lunch and a siesta in the hottest part of the day. They go back out in late afternoon until you get tired of shooting.
The Dorado fishing is also great this time of year. The hotter the weather, the better they bite.
Estancia Cortaderas is open year-round. Mixed bag shooting is from May 1 through August. High volume doves and pigeons are shot from September through April.
The lodge is beautiful and modern with 10 large double rooms each with en-suite bathrooms. The are very comfortable and spacious with plenty of storage. Each room has a desk if you need to work or take calls. They have good wi-fi as well. When it’s hot, the pool is great. In the winter you can use the spa, hot tub, sauna, and massage room upstairs. No detail is overlooked.
The living areas have plenty of room and are extremely spacious. There is a large fire place in the center of the room that everybody loves and a wine cellar / bar as well.
There is a sister lodge (El Raigon) to Cortaderas just down the road as well, in case Cortaderas is fully booked. All programs are the same.
Your trip starts with an easy overnight flight from the US to Buenos Aires. All flights depart between 7:30 and 11 pm. There are daily flights from Houston, Dallas, Miami, New York and Atlanta. Once you clear customs at Ezeiza Airport our representative will meet you and either take you across town to Aeroparque airport for the 1 hour flight to Parana (or) take you into the city and overnight. No overnight is required, it’s up to the group if you’d like to see the city. If the group wants to arrive early and spend a night in Buenos Aires, we can easily facilitate that, book tours and dinner reservations.
If you prefer to charter it’s 90 minutes or so and you can depart from Ezeiza airport. In that case the charter company will meet you outside of customs and drive you 10 minutes to the private hangars. If you charter, we will add the cost to each shooter’s invoice. The charter price varies by what aircraft is chosen and how many people are in the group.
